A great day out!

What a fantastic day we had at Landmark today!
I hope the children have come home after a thoroughly enjoyable day, buzzing with stories to tell you!  I’m not sure about the children but I am exhausted after all the fresh air and running around!  Please take a look at the photos of some of the things that we enjoyed doing today – unfortunately, I didn’t manage to capture everyone in the pictures as we were all so busy in different places!

Enjoying the Outdoors!

Last week we took advantage of the lovely dry days and got out of the classroom!  We explored objects out in the playground and used them to count and form numbers up to 100!!  Have a look at the pictures and see if you can tell what some of our numbers are!

We began learning about measuring capacity by exploring different sizes of containers and seeing if we could guess which containers would contain more than others.  The ones that really surprised us were the really tall containers … we thought that they would hold more water than some of the shorter, fatter ones (but the didn’t!).  At the end we discovered that if we mixed different colours of water together, it made new colours!

We have been practising lots of running, skipping and balancing balls on bats for our sports day next week.  We have also been inventing our own games using lots of different equipment down on the MUGA.  Would you like to play any of our games??

HELPERS WANTED!!

We are looking for some parent helpers to accompany us to Landmark on Thursday the 13th of June and Sports Day on Tuesday the 18th of June.  If you are available to help, please get in touch with me!

Handwriting Outdoors!

Today we practised our handwriting out on the decking! We imagined that the lines between the wood were the lines in our jotters. Once we had practised our letters for a little while outside … we went in and wrote them in our jotters!

Origami Art

This week the children have really enjoyed showing off all of their origami crafts that they have made at home.

We decided to make Chinese fans that we had to fold very carefully so that they worked properly!
They look beautiful!

Green fingered Gardeners!

Today we were very lucky to have Archie’s Grandpa (John) and Carla’s Mum (Rona) come in to help us to plant some potatoes and flower seeds.  We are going to have to make sure that they get lots of sunshine and water to help them grow!

Yum Yum!! (or not for some!)

We had an amazing time tasting lots of different Chinese foods today!  There were some people who only like one or two things and some people liked them all!  We used both our sense of smell and taste to work out if we liked the different foods.  I think the most popular food was most definitely the prawn crackers … closely followed by the egg fried rice!  Not many of us liked the Chicken and Sweetcorn soup though!

Achievements!

Please remember to send a note about any achievements that your child has had outwith school … I LOVE hearing about all of the busy and thoughtful things that they all get up to once they leave the classroom!

This weekend Carla took part in the Race for Life and raised £50 for Cancer Research!
Have a look under the Achievements page and click on Carla’s page to see a photo of her with her lovely medal!

Portfolios, M Factor and Chinese Tasting!!

Today your portfolios are coming home with you!

The portfolios are special jotters that we used last week for your work and now you can show those at home what you have done.

Ask an adult to go through your jotter with you and write a comment in the parent box at the end of your work.  There is also a slip to return with your jotter by Wednesday next week.

Enjoy!

M-FACTOR!

Last year the school had a successful talent show competition at the end of this term.

This year we are going to enjoy it again so…Primary 1/2 will be having auditions next Wednesday afternoon.  Do you have a talent you could share with us, can you sing, can you dance, or do you have some other talent we could see or hear?  Have a think and a practise!

Chinese Food Tasting!

Letters went home this week about Chinese food tasting next week, please remind your parents to return the slip so we can have some tasty snacks! :)
